Music scheduling tip of the week “The 15-minute rule”

In any given 15 minute period, is your station’s positioning statement regarding the music holding up?

The audience should be getting a true feel of all the various music genres and eras being represented in this 15 to 20 minute segment.

If, for example, in one 15 minute segment, you have a Power Current, a Recurrent, a 90’s, and a Secondary Recurrent on a station that says it plays the “best of the 80’s 90’s and today”---you’re presenting a different product than your marketing.

The 15-minute rule also applies to tempo, , sound, mood and artist/type clumping
